Historically, the Canadian labour movement has operated very effectively at the national level, and therefore wields great influence in Ottawa. FETCO ensures that Canadian business has an equally influential voice. To this end, FETCO is at the forefront of researching issues, coordinating the efforts of employers, and ensuring that the interests of Canadian business are taken into account in labour discussions.
As the principal voice of Canadian business at the federal level in labour matters, FETCO ensures that the interests of Canadian business are actively promoted. In addition, FETCO maintains an active dialogue with the Canadian government so that the views of Canadian employers will be understood and taken into account when government formulates its positions related to labour policy.As well, FETCO has developed a strong working relationship and maintains a constructive dialogue with union organizations such as the CLC.
